Position Description

An exciting position has become available for a (Senior) Category Buyer focusing on the Chemicals and Bioreagents requirements. As part of a global procurement category team, the successful candidate will play a strategic role working with suppliers and internal stakeholders to manage supply and demand of key products, creating and improving processes for new and existing products. The person will report to Director Procurement, Global Category Leader ChemBio located in Germany.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute sourcing strategies defined by the respective category leader or category manager and sourcing decisions for the Chemicals and Bioreagents category, inclusive an oversight of purchase orders.
  • Conduct purchasing of materials and services, and allocate frame contracts to demand requests, together with operational procurement.
  • Execute Supplier Management activities.
  • Performance Management of the Chemicals and Bioreagents supply base and its reporting within the category team; proactively drive sourcing process, identifying global supply needs, soliciting quotes, tendering and negotiating supplier contracts within the category level defined boundaries.
  • Analysis of supply markets for the assigned material groups in alignment and under guidance of the category manager / category leader, involvement in global savings and KPI delivery and its reporting.
  • Contribute in development of material and supplier strategies and in optimization of procurement processes within the agreed field of engagement and in alignment with global process, methods & tools guidance.
  • Act as a point of contact for external and internal stakeholders. Effectively manage relationships and provide support/guidance as appropriate.

Position Requirements:

  • Ideally a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a Life Science discipline (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology or similar) or in a Procurement / Supply Chain related area.
  • Experience within a similar role in Procurement, in a regulated environment is preferred.
  • English language skills (written and spoken) are essential with the ability to negotiate effectively and influence others. Polish language is beneficial.
  • Experience of ERP systems, ideally SAP.
  • Analytical skills with competencies in excelling data and creating reports.

  • Ability to navigate in global business environments also virtually, and effectively use digital enablers.
